6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

at Triangle Park

Bellefonte Avenue & West Main Streets

Pastime is an acappella doo-wop group based in the Harrisburg area.  What is acappella doo-wop?  Simply put, it is doo-wop without instruments.  What is doo-wop?  The term doo-wop wasn’t used in the 1950’s or 60’s when that style music was most popular.  It came into use in the early 1980’s and was used to describe the background syllables of that particular style of song.  But it’s more than just words and syllables.  It’s a sound.  It’s an attitude.  It’s nostalgia.

Pastime is an accomplished group who sing a wide range of songs. Three key factors influence why the vocal renditions of Pastime are so unique.  First, and maybe most important, is the groups dedication to the “street corner” doo-wop sound.  Second, is their ability to harmonize naturally.   And third, is the almost perfect blend of their voices.

The group consists of Larry Brown (1st Tenor), Don Schwanger (1st Tenor, 2nd Tenor), Ron Hoerner (1st Tenor, 2nd Tenor), Gordie Geesey (Baritone, Bass), and Buddy Scharff (Bass, Baritone).

Pastime’s first CD, Pastime-Acappella, was released in September of 1996.  The group had such a great time recording the first CD that they went back to the studio and recently completed their second album entitled Sincerely, Pastime.

You owe it to yourself to make it a point to hear this unique group live.  There’s nothing like it!  You’re almost guaranteed to get goose bumps at least once during a live show.  You’ll hear some of your favorite songs from the past, including songs like, “One Summer Night” by the Danleers, “So Much In Love” by the Tymes, “Old Man River” by the Temptations, “At My Front Door” by the El Dorados, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by the Tokens, “Blue Moon” by the Marcels and many, many more.

The public is invited to attend this free summer concert. Seating will not be provided, therefore, the public is asked to bring a lawn chair.
